Reiki for People
Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is the art of activating and balancing the Life Force Energy that is within all beings. Reiki energy is entered through hands-on or distant healing treatments. A person's Inner Healer is activated, and the body is able to begin the healing it needs on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels. Reiki is a gentle and non-invasive form of energy healing, which complements and enhances all other healing modalities.

Current Reiki practice can be traced to the spiritual teachings of Mikao Usui in Japan during the early 20th century. Usui's teachings included meditative techniques and healing practices. An American named Hawayo Takata learned Usui Reiki in Japan and introduced it to Western cultures in the late 1930s.

The type of Reiki practiced and taught by Usui and Takata is considered to be traditional Reiki. Numerous variations of Reiki have since been developed and are currently practiced.

Judy Bullard is a Reiki Master in the Usui lineage. She has practiced and taught Reiki for people and animals for over 16 years. Judy's intuition adds depth to her Reiki energy practice. She connects with her spiritual guides who provide information and clarity about the person's situation. She may receive images, words or phrases that speak to the client. During one client's treatment, for example, Judy received an image of shiny stones near the water. The client recognized the image as a special place where she collected stones, and felt called to return there to benefit her healing

Reiki energy may be guided to a person anywhere, as long as a request is made. Once Judy receives an individual's permission, she can channel the Reiki energy to the person.

If you request a distant treatment, Judy will email you when she intends to do the treatment. You will want to hold that time aside for yourself. Judy will go into meditation and channel the Reiki energy to you. Afterwards she will contact you by email and communicate any insights, images or other guidance that came to her during the treatment.

 Judy would also like to hear from you about your experience, as well as answer any questions you may have. Remember, though the healing begins immediately, it may take time for you to experience changes or benefits. A follow-up session can be beneficial.




Reiki has become an accepted complementary therapy in many hospitals, cancer centers and hospice. It is a way to manage anxiety, and assist in recovery and the healing process. It is even used here in Maine hospitals such as Maine Medical Center and Mercy Hospital.

How does Reiki work? Everything that is alive is energy, and we are all energetic beings! Energy is the very essence of our vitality. If one's Life 
Force energy is low or blocked, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress. If one's Life Force energy is high, we are more capable of being healthy, free of pain and happy.

By the gentle laying of the practioner's hands on different areas of the body, the client draws the appropriate amount energy that he/she needs to restore balance. All treatments are done laying comfortably on a massage table, fully clothed.
