Reiki for Animals

General Information about Animal Reiki:

Animals respond naturally to Reiki treatments. They often come right up to the Reiki practitioner, "asking" for the Reiki healing energy. Reiki is ideal for animals, because it is gentle and non-invasive, and yields powerful results. For animals who are ill or in distress, Reiki is a safe complement to traditional veterinary medicine, as well as complementing holistic medicine, homeopathy, flower essences and all other forms of healing. For example, Reiki can reduce the side effects of  surgery and medications, support acupuncture treatment and enhance the effects of natural remedies.

In-Person Treatments:

In the Greater Portland, Maine area, Judy offers in-person Reiki treatments at the animal's home or farm. Judy finds that the animal is more relaxed and receptive in their home environment. Animals let us know what they want in terms of the type and length of treatment. Many enjoy "hands-on" treatments, and Judy is intuitively guided where to place her hands.  She will adjust her hand positions to meet the needs and desires of each animal. Other animals prefer to be treated from a few feet away or across the room. The animal will often come closer as they feel the energy and feel comfortable receiving it. In either case, the animal often goes into a state of deep relaxation or sleep during the treatment. The animal may also get up and shake, sneeze, or drink water after a treatment. These are all signs they have received the Reiki.

Distance Healing Treatments:

Distance healing treatments offer the same benefits as hands-on treatments. Some animals may live too far away for Judy to travel to their home. Some may be too small, shy, feral or afraid of strangers to benefit from an in-person treatment. Emergency situations can also be handled effectively with distance treatments, for instance an accident, injury or sudden illness. The faster an animal receives Reiki, the more effective the healing will be. Animals can also benefit from distance healing in between hands-on treatments, as a matter of convenience or cost.

To set up a treatment, email Judy to let her know about the animal for whom the distance healing is intended, what the situation is, and how long it has been going on. Payment should be made prior to the session.

A distance healing session will take about a half hour from start to finish. Judy will email you when she intends to do the session, as you will want to be with your animal during the treatment. She enters meditation and guides the Reiki energy to the animal. Judy will contact you by email to communicate any insights or other guidance that she received. She is available to answer any questions you may have about the treatment. Remember, though the healing begins immediately, it may take time for you to notice changes or benefits in your animal. A follow-up session can often be beneficial.

Bright Eyes

"Our dog who got hit by a car appeared to be in shock. Judy came right over and gave her Reiki for about 20 minutes. Suddenly the dog awoke, shook herself, and sat up.  When we got her to the vet he was surprised at how well she was doing. Judy continued to give her Reiki for a period of days. It was amazing to see how well our dog responded.”

Count

"My llama Count has benefited from Judy's distance healing sessions.  He has released a lot of his anxiety and is happier, not limping and eating better.  I feel Judy's intuitive process has given Count positive reinforcement and an ability to lead a better life."

Dylan

" My nine year old gelding, Dylan, had a tumor on his right ear which was surgically removed. After surgery, it looked worse every day. Judy did a distance healing on it, and within two days the difference was remarkable. I had her do another healing a week later, and it healed up completely. The scar isn't even noticeable! It was a remarkable experience, one that Dylan and I are both glad we did.

About Judy

Judy has practiced Reiki  for over 13 years. Most recently Judy has studied with Kathleen Prasad, of Animal Reiki Source in San Rafael, California. Kathleen is a national leader in animal Reiki education and practice.

Judy has had a very deep connection with animals all of her life. As a teenager she would often hold small injured wild animals, like birds and frogs, in her hands until they were ready to return to nature. She grew up with dogs which her family raised. She helped deliver puppies and cared for them until they were ready for their new homes. She has always owned dogs personally, and currently has three dog companions. She has a deep compassion for animals and feels blessed to be able to support their healing through Reiki. It is her way of giving back to the animals who have taught her so much and given her their unconditional love.

Judy loves being out in nature, enjoying walks with her dogs, kayaking on the river and sitting outdoors by the backyard pond she created. She lives in Scarborough, Maine with her life partner and her dogs.
